Our Programs
Youth Development Workshops
THYPI approaches education differently than most community organizations. The workshops will be offered to youth two ways at our local resource center and participating schools. We want to assure that the youth are taking part in their development with interactive workshops. The workshops will be preparing the youth for their next steps after high school. We focus on high school juniors and seniors in this program. This program includes life skills, finances, credit awareness, adult decision-making skills, individualized five-year plan, and etc. We identify each youth's individual needs that may hinder their goals and we input a plan of action. We assist with pre-college or pre-career requirements such as maintaining GPA, financial aid, and scholarship referrals. We work hand and hand with school counselors and parents to assist with youth’s goals. The personalized five-year plan will include step by step instructions and resources. We believe that road maps are important! Not just for traveling but also for life. Having a map will help the youth to stay on course and immediately identify when they are off course. Throughout the 28 years of servicing our youth, we have found an alarming trend that has been increasing over the past 10 years. Youth depression that occurs during senior year and after graduating high school. After much research, we have come to the conclusion that youth being unprepared during transition from high school to early adulthood is one of the identifying causes. We have prepared a workshop that helps youth with the transitioning process. We will assist youth in determining career and educational paths through assessments, provided resources and information on schools and trades to accomplish their goals. We will also provide education on the importance of money management and credit. Provide a list of essential transitional needs such as State Id, birth certificates, how-to of opening bank accounts and etc. We believe that with this support and information, youth will be mentally equipped to transition without the stress from uncertainty associated.

Resource Center
We at THYPI, understand that at-home issues may play a part in our youth not being able to reach their goals. Therefore, we believe that having a resource center within our program would also help with our mission. We will work with other community organizations as a resource referral station for at home disadvantages, such as lack of food, safe place, clothing, bill payment, legal services, health needs and etc. We would like for our youth to have an organization that they can depend on, that is equipped and well-rounded and able to meet their needs.

Faith Based Counseling
We believe in helping the whole person. Youth face many challenges that may cause emotional scares, dysfunctional world views and behaviors. We encourage our youth to talk it out. This gives youth the opportunity to express how they feel and learn new ways of dealing with issues. We use local licensed clergy and counselors to provide counseling that is confidential and in a safe environment.
